Outreach, the LGBTQ Catholic ministry, announced the addition of a new team member today: John Consolie begins June 2 as the communications and development associate.
Mr. Consolie is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he completed a master of divinity degree earlier this month and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in theology and Arabic studies in 2022. While at Notre Dame, he was active in campus ministry and helped pioneer programs specifically for LBGTQ students. An accomplished musician, Mr. Consolie was a cantor at Notre Dame’s Basilica of the Sacred Heart and a member of the liturgical choir.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jack to Outreach, where he will bolster our communications, event planning and fundraising efforts,” said Michael O’Loughlin, executive director of Outreach. “Jack’s background in ministry, in planning engaging retreats and his love for the church will help Outreach continue to serve LGBTQ Catholics and their families.”
Outreach, founded in 2021 by James Martin, S.J., is a project of America Media. It serves LGBTQ Catholics, their families and those who minister to them with articles, resources and events.
Father Martin said, “We’re happy to welcome Jack to Outreach, where he will assist Michael O’Loughlin in expanding our ministry to reach even more LGBTQ Catholics and their families and friends.”
A native of Atlanta, Mr. Consolie has been involved with Outreach since 2023, when he attended the national conference at Fordham University. At Outreach 2024, held at Georgetown University, Mr. Consolie served as a panelist for a discussion about LGBTQ ministry at colleges and universities and in April, he wrote an essay for Outreach about how Pope Francis affected his faith life.
In his new role, Mr. Consolie will assist with communications and fundraising efforts for Outreach, joining a team that includes Father Martin, Mr. O’Loughlin, America Media Development Director Alessandra Rose and Delaney Coyne, an editorial assistant for Outreach.
