Outreach will host a regional gathering at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle, in New York, New York on Sat., September 26 in the evening, celebrating a prayer service with a social gathering. The two-hour event will be co-hosted with the LGBTQ ministry of the parish, “Out at St. Paul” (“OSP”). (The registration form for the event is at the end of this article.)
The event will include a service of prayer inside the church and a social gathering following on the grounds of the parish. The gathering is an opportunity for LGBTQ Catholics to pray together and engage in community building.
“The LGBTQ community has long been an integral part of our family of faith here at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle. As the Mother church of the Paulist Fathers, hospitality is at the heart of who we are. And so it is a joy to welcome Outreach to join Out at St. Paul for this evening of prayer and fellowship,” said Eric Andrews, CSP, Pastor of the Church of St. Paul the Apostle.
“Outreach has become an extraordinary resource for LGBTQ+ Catholics and all who seek to accompany and welcome us. OSP is honored to welcome Outreach to our parish this evening! We hope this gathering strengthens connections, deepens faith and reminds everyone present that they are an essential part of the church,” said Ben Kulos, member of the Ministry Team of Out at St. Paul.
This event will also serve as a cornerstone of Outreach’s pilgrimage to New York City (more information is available here), which seeks to journey through the Catholic Church’s relationship with the LGBTQ community in New York City, particularly during the HIV/AIDS crisis at the turn of the century.
Outreach’s executive director, Conor Reidy, said, “As a lifelong New Yorker, I am really excited to welcome the Outreach community to my hometown, celebrating the lived experiences of LGBTQ Catholics, which parishes like St. Paul the Apostle have been doing for many years. This event is also the culmination of our mini-pilgrimage, which I hope gives us all the opportunity to carry the stories we will encounter throughout the weekend into prayer and fellowship, honoring the LGBTQ Catholics whose faith has and continues to shape the church in New York”.
The New York event is a part of Outreach’s strategy of hosting regional and virtual gatherings to continue the conversation from Outreach 2026, “Walking Side by Side: Celebrating Five Years of Outreach,” which took place June 19-21, 2026, at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
